Organization
Ayia Napa
Conference Center is located in the 15th-Century Ayia Napa Monastery, in
the village of the same name. The Monastery, no longer in active use, was
made available by the late Archbishop Makarios and the Orthodox Church of
Cyprus for use as an ecumenical conference center. Modern rooms were added
to augment the facilities provided by the existing buildings, with
financial assistance being provided through an Inter-Church Aid project of
the World Council of Churches Commission on Inter-Church, Refugee and
World Service.
The
Center is administered by a Board of management representing the various
churches in Cyprus: Orthodox Church of Cyprus, Armenian Apostolic Church,
Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and the Middle East (Anglican), Roman
Catholic Church (Latin) and Maronite Church.
The
Center's Director and staff arrange for visitors' accommodation and are
available to assist groups in planning their program activities.
Facilities
 |
Accommodation is offered in sixteen double rooms, with private bath,
aircondition, and each with its own veranda. |
 |
The
lovely old cloisters include conference rooms, the dining room, library
and the Center offices surrounding a courtyard dominated by the village
old Orthodox Church. |
 |
From
the Center it is a ten-minute walk to the sea, in an area of fine sandy
beaches and rocky coves. Longer excursions from the Center can take
visitors to places associated with the development of the church in
Cyprus since Biblical times and the missionary work of the Apostles Paul
and Barnabas. |
