Main Activities and projects:

Vocational Training Programs
Vocational training continues to be much in demand by young people for whom higher academic studies are financially taxing.
Through a competent and committed force of staff and volunteers, the YWCA continues to update its training programs to serve 500 students yearly in 12 areas of specialization.
Graduates are assisted and placed in appropriate jobs by the YWCA employment service, thus enabling them to subsidize family needs.

Young Women’s Leadership Training Programs
Recruiting, training and involving young women in the leadership of the movement is a constant priority for the YWCA of Lebanon.
Over the years, the YWCA has established a leadership training program to enable their participation at decision-making levels and to foster their involvement in the social rebuilding process of the country.
This yearly spring event was held in a Lebanese mountain bringing together 30 new young women members with the main emphasis on Christian values, strategic planning, team building and internal conflict resolution skills.

Promoting women’s political leadership by training women for municipalities
This project aims at strengthening women’s involvement in political life, as responsible voters, strong candidates and competent leaders, by offering them proper training and the necessary skills for this kind of involvement.
Throughout this project, more than 150 women and young women received training in the mechanisms of municipal administration, lobbying techniques and legal work required for able participation during the current round of elections taking place in 2004

Women in Leadership and Decision-Making
In view of the latest political and socio-economic shifts affecting the Middle-East region, the YWCA of Lebanon convened a national conference to explore new trends and challenges, develop strategies and alliances, and translate international policies and recommendations into practicable action.

The event brought together more than 250 women and young women activists, leaders from non-governmental organizations, government and public sectors representatives, to assess progress made in the Middle East region, tackle obstacles and new trends, propose concrete actions in order to realize the equal participation of women from all walks of like in the leadership of their country.

Promoting women’s human rights and working towards the elimination of violence against women
The National YWCA of Lebanon is the first Lebanese NGO to launch a non violence campaign calling for the active participation of all community members in preventing all forms of violence towards the development of a safe social environment.
In view of its commitment towards the elimination of all forms of violence against women, the YWCA was chosen by UNFPA to address gender violence, primarily targeting health care providers to help them deal with this taboo issue among female patients and their families.
